Zak Funnell

Zak struggled with his mental health in later teenage years. In his later years, in particular, Zak’s condition deteriorated, requiring ongoing treatment from the Early Intervention Service.

In April 2020 Zak was admitted into psychiatric care, where he died 12 weeks later.

We hope that Zak’s experience of mental health opens hearts and minds. We hope that what he endured forces us all to challenge our personal bigotries, bigotries that too often lead us to dismiss those who suffer with mental illnesses as problems to be avoided or harshly judged.
