What They
Say About Us
Every Adam’s Light talk begins with a simple intention. To open a space where people feel safe enough to listen, to reflect, and to speak honestly about suicide and the realities that surround it. What happens in those rooms and classrooms is shaped as much by the people who join us as by the message we bring.
The reflections shared here come from those who have welcomed us into their schools, workplaces, and communities. Their words offer a glimpse into how these conversations land and how they resonate, challenge, reassure, or stay with someone long after the session ends.
“Adam’s Light has sensitively and professionally delivered some extremely emotive and powerful sessions on suicide prevention and awareness to our year 9 students. Our students were engaged throughout, and the feedback has been so positive. We look forward to Adam’s Light delivering more sessions in the future and would like to thank Lauren for her delivery and knowledge."
“My daughter came home after your talk and asked me to reach out right away. She was deeply moved by the experience.
We both want you to know how incredibly important your work is. By raising awareness of suicide, you are highlighting an issue that is too often overlooked.
Thank you so much for what you are doing. Our society needs to change.”
“ A really difficult but essential session both for staff and students. Delivered extremely well and with a lot of positivity.”
“ It was a session that covered a really important subject in an impactful and sensitive way. Students listened closely and engaged throughout.”
“ Lauren delivers this incredibly important, sensitive topic in such a calm, inclusive, relaxed environment. Students are engaged and have commented on how they believe the session is being delivered in the right way allowing them to offer feedback throughout.”
“We found your presentation to be really informative, and we were really engaged throughout. From your own experience and from a place of love, you are able to bring teenage suicide, very much a subject that often people know little about and just don’t think it would happen to them, to the forefront. You give signs to look out for and the courage as a parent to have those forthright discussions with our children.”
“Thank you very much for the very informative and moving talk you gave us. I am a parent of an autistic boy, who verbalised about feeling depressed, and ending his life not long ago. I found your talk very useful and informative on how to manage the kind of situation I was faced with, and moving forward in the future.
May you continue to help other parents prevent suicide of young people by arming them with the knowledge that they need, just like you did that evening.”
“I found the evening informative and shocking at the same time. I was shocked that suicide is the leading cause of death in young people today and the increase in rates relating to this. As a family, we have had to deal with the trauma of losing a loved one to something that possibly could have been prevented. As a parent of a child who attends the school, I would welcome more open talks to the students. I feel it is incredibly important that we talk about suicide openly and make sure young people have support and resources they can turn to.”
“I think the tools you used and identified in the session gave me the confidence to speak to all 3 of my children and with the knowledge that I was doing the right thing.”
“Your presentation was just wonderful. It was real, touching and so informative and helpful. Ever since I’ve been asking my daughter how she is feeling and talking with her much more. The work you are doing is lifesaving, thank you so much.”
“I came along to your talk and just wanted to say thank you for providing parents with the opportunity to learn from your devastating lived experience. I'm so deeply sorry this happened to you and your family and my thoughts are with you. Obviously, it's a very difficult topic but I was very pleased to see the school taking the initiative and beginning to open up the conversations about suicide and what to look out for with your wonderful support.”
“I wanted to get in touch to say thank you for your presentation on suicide prevention at our school. As a parent and a counsellor, the message you are sending is invaluable to young people, staff, parents etc.”
“I think for most parents there is that fear that a young person will take their own life with no prior warning and that we as parents may have been negligent in our observations and could have done something to prevent it.”
“I was concerned that talking about suicide with young people might encourage them to do it. But after the talk, I was reassured that absolutely wasn’t the case. In fact, they want to talk about it so they can understand.”
